Accumulation and Retention of Tritium
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction Tritium (3H) in the natural environment is derived from natural or anthropogenic sources and can be used to estimate human radiation exposure around nuclear fuel reprocessing facilities. Elevated concentrations of 3H in the environment are generally associated with its production at nuclear facilities and exposure of local populations can be a public concern. The concentration of cosmogenic 3H in natural waters is estimated to be 0.1 BqL-1 [1, 2]. In continental environments, which are not directly adjacent to nuclear facilities, the radioactivity concentrations of 3H (“background”) currently range between 1 and 4 BqL-1.

Issues Associated with Codeposition of Deuterium with ITER Materials
Codeposition of fuel species with the various plasma-facing materials present in ITER is expected to be the primary source of tritium accumulation within the vacuum vessel. In this paper, the levels of retention in codeposited layers of each of the three ITER materials (C, Be and W) are compared. Scaling laws, based on the conditions during the codeposition process (surface temperature, inciden...
متن کاملTritium behavior in eroded dust and debris of plasma-facing materials
Tritium behavior in plasma-facing components (PFCs) of future tokamak reactors such as ITER is an essential factor in evaluating and choosing the ideal plasma-facing materials (PFMs). One important parameter that in ̄uences tritium buildup and release in candidate materials is the eect of material porosity on tritium diusion and retention. Diusion in porous materials, for example, consists of...

Available data and mathematical formulations concerning tritium transport in the FW/Divertor with tungsten and beryllium as plasma facing materials were implemented in the commercial code COMSOL Multiphysics. The goal is to develop a CAD-based multiphysics modeling capability so that FW/Divertor temperature and geometric features can be readily taken into consideration while tritium permeation ...
متن کاملTritium Retention in Tungsten Exposed to Intense Fluxes of 100 eV Tritons 5 SO 56
Tungsten is a candidate material for ITER as well as other future magnetic fusion energy devices. Tungsten is well suited for certain hsion applications in that it has a high threshold for sputtering as well as a very high melting point. As with all materials to be used on the inside of a tokamak or similar device, there is a need to know the behavior of hydrogen isotopes embedded in the materi...
